Security & Privacy

The basics done properly, and a calm plan for the day something goes wrong.

Two-step sign-in, a password manager, encrypted laptops. Cameras and small sensors for the office. Private phones on GrapheneOS. Medical offices set up with HIPAA in mind.

What we do

  • The basics, set up around your office

Two-step sign-in, a password manager for the team, encrypted laptops, and Windows' own protection set up right. A look at where things stand, and time with the team: the password manager, what a phishing email looks like, what's OK to share and send. What's on top of the list depends on the office.

  • When something happens

You call. First, by phone: what to do right away to stop the damage. Then we come out as soon as we can. On site, two-step sign-in and the standard steps first, then the specifics: how they got in, what to lock down, what to change, what to watch. And we follow up until it's closed.

  • Cameras and small sensors for the office

A few cameras, a doorbell, door and window open-close sensors: whatever fits the office. Recordings kept on a recorder in your office, or Ring if you'd rather. Octachain isn't a licensed contractor, so we take on small installs only.

  • Private phones, set up around you

A Google Pixel running GrapheneOS, supplied new or refurbished, or installed on a supported Pixel you already own. Set up around what you use: the apps and accounts, private chat and video channels, a VPN to your office, anything that needs to connect to your cloud. More on the private phones page.

By phone first to stop the damage, then on site to find the cause.

What we leave to others

Monitored alarm systems, cabling inside the walls, security guards and around-the-clock monitoring. These go to licensed partners we work with.
